On the occasion of Paschimbanga Divas (West Bengal Day), The Bhawanipur Education Society College organised a celebratory event on 20th June 2026 from 11:00 a.m. onwards at the Concept Hall.
The event began with the anchor discussing the importance of Paschimbanga Divas, highlighting Kavi Nazrul’s words to explain the day’s significance and sharing insights into Bengal’s rich cultural, historical, and intellectual heritage.
The gathering was then addressed by Dr Dona Ganguly, Faculty, Department of Political Science, and the Rector and Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, who shared their thoughts on the importance of the occasion. They spoke about Bengal’s contributions to literature, art, and education while encouraging students to remain connected to their roots and cultural heritage.
Adding a cultural touch to the event, the Crescendo collective presented a melodious performance of the song “Moloyo Batashe,” which beautifully reflected the essence of Bengali culture.
The judges for the various competitions were then introduced. Competitions were organised to encourage students to express themselves intellectually and artistically. These competitions included an Essay Writing Competition on the topic “Partition of India and the Making of West Bengal,” an Elocution Competition on “Viksit Bharat,” as well as Photography and Cartoon Making competitions.
The students displayed research, creativity, and confidence across all categories. Their performances reflected an understanding of the themes and an appreciation of the cultural and historical significance of Paschimbanga Divas.
The event concluded at 2:00 p.m. with the prize distribution ceremony, followed by a Vote of Thanks to the speakers, judges, participants, organisers, and audience for making the celebration a success.
Overall, Paschimbanga Divas 2026 served as a meaningful tribute to West Bengal’s rich legacy.
