Environmental Awareness Programme

Brief Description of Event: Changing environments and its consequent impacts, have been historically known, to affect the survival of human civilisations. With climate change, upon us, the department, decided to focus on the vital connections between a sustainable, clean environment and the future survival of humanity. With this objective in mind, a tree plantation drive was organised, with students being the principle participants.
Armed with saplings, students furrowed the soil, with help from children from Sapgachi Humanity. Tree plantation drives are an innovative way of participative-hands-on-learning to students to impart crucial lessons on sustainability and collective spirit in the name of humanity.

Outcome of the Event: Tree plantation was associated with two interrelated personality developments. 1) To teach students to become responsible citizens and 2) to make them aware of the spirit of effective participatory action, i.e. the path that is to be forged to find global solutions for humanitarian crisis.
