Objective of the event: The seminar (IQAC Approved) aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of various laws related to women, cybercrime and consumer rights in India. It was structured to enhance their knowledge and analytical skills, preparing them to write reports on the seminar proceedings as part of SEC tutorial, a component of Calcutta University Examinations. Brief description of the event: On February 28, 2026, the Department of Political Science organized a seminar as part of the Tutorial component of the Calcutta University examination. The seminar constituted of three sessions-

The Sessions were conducted by Smt. Soma Kar Ghosh, Advocate, Calcutta High Court; Smt. Pranati Saha, Deputy Superintendent of Police CID, West Bengal and Shree Shiv Shankar Banerjee, Advocate, Calcutta High Court and Supreme Court of India respectively. The session was inaugurated by Amala Dhandhania, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science and Prof Debjani Ganguly, Vice-Principal (Arts) gave the welcome address. Prof. Ganguly and Prof. Dhandhania felicitated the speakers and then the seminar began. Outcome of the event: The seminar enhanced participants’ understanding of the existing laws pertaining to women, cybercrime and consumer rights in India. It fostered a sense of critical thinking and analysis among the students.
