The Bhawanipur Entrepreneurship and Startup Training (BEST) collective organized a debate on the topic ‘Ethics in Business is a far cry’ for its students on 4th February 2021 at 12 noon. It was an extremely interactive debate, and all the participants had equal caliber and potential but, in the end, some stood out shining brighter than the others.
Prof. Dilip Shah inaugurated the event by emphasizing on the importance of ethics in any running business. He also urged the participants of the debate to be confident in their speech and not to rely on any reading material as the purpose of the event is to ‘shape good leaders not readers’. The moderator of the debate was Summy Mahato. The respected judges for the event were Prof. Mohit Shaw, Prof. Urvi Shukla and Miss Chandroma Saha from CII Young India. The judges were very cooperative and helped each participant perfect their verbal delivery skills. All the participants spoke with a lot of enthusiasm and there were so many notable points presented about, tough competition, the competitors, the various laws, rules and regulations and the ethical and unethical acts of various businesses and its effects on society as a whole.
After the debate, a quick open house question and answer round took place. Prof. Dilip Shah then announced the winners who were Drishti Shroff, who spoke FOR the motion and Kumar Ayush, who spoke AGAINST the motion. The event was a success, and the participants and the audience highly appreciated the debate.
